The Eco Weekly Wrap-Up is when I share what I’ve been reading and watching this week when I should have been writing. Consider it my weekly summary of procrastination excuses under the guise of being educational. I do.
1. A picture is worth a thousand words, but is two words worth a picture? Louisiana Rep. Jeff Landry, R-New Iberia thought so and so did the Associated Press. Rep. Landry held a sign that read Drilling = Jobs during President Obama’s speech last night.
2. Speaking of pictures, I have seen wildfires in three states in the last month – Wyoming, Louisiana, and Texas – and I just want to share them. Fire scares me. Ask anyone who has seen me try to light a camp stove. Lighters and snakes are my kryptonite.

3. Helping Bats Hold On by Janet Raloff in Science News
White-nose syndrome does not sound like a virulent fungal infection that is devaustating bat populations across North America. But the fungus that is killing off entire cave populations is a member of the soil-dwelling Geomyces and is aptly named G. destructans.

I also have a fear of fires. It was a challenge living in the woods for 3 years. I still hate lighting matches.
